DJ INFECTIOUS UNEASE — GORDON LAWRENCE TAYLOR
Voice In The Void
Gordon Lawrence Taylor, known as DJ Infectious Unease and Voice In The Void, has been DJing since 1989 and presenting Infectious Unease Radio since its first broadcast on 11 August 1992.
Across more than three decades, his work as a radio presenter, DJ, writer, performer, musician, event organiser and independent music supporter has remained dedicated to alternative, experimental and underground culture.
His radio programs explore music beyond conventional boundaries, bringing together established underground artists, overlooked releases, emerging independent voices and sounds from many countries, cultures and languages.
96.5 Inner FM in Melbourne, Australia, was one of the former broadcast homes of Infectious Unease Radio from 11 August 1992 until January 2026. The program is no longer broadcast through, or associated with, Inner FM.
Infectious Unease Radio was also broadcast through KLST 103.5 FM in the United States from October 2019 until August 2022.
Gordon began broadcasting through Wax Radio in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, in August 2022, continuing the program’s international broadcasting journey.

Band and Collaborative Projects
DJ Infectious Unease is a member of the band Noir Corps, a collaborative project with Ivan Bullock of Minorarc (Australia) (minorarc.net) and Duncan Little of Bastich (Australia). The band released a double CD in 2010 titled Noir Corps – Le Terreur and has performed extensively at underground venues.
Releases and Label Work
In 2010, Infectious Unease Radio released an eclectic, limited edition 4-disc compilation featuring 62 bands, under the labels Infectious Unease Productions and Dawn Industries. This release was lauded by music critic Mick Mercer, who said:
“They’re not wrong when they call this a colossal compilation, with 4 CDs housed in a 4-tray DVD case, but as Gordon Taylor has been faithfully running his radio show in Australia for seventeen years it deserves something special to mark such an effort and this international compilation is certainly very special. He plays pretty much anything on the darker side of independent music, with a clear interest in electronic styles but there’s Goth, Post-Punk and Industrial hybrids aplenty, making for an absorbing cross-section of what’s happening today. Come and catch something…”
(Mick Mercer review)

Event Organization

In 2015, Gordon Lawrence Taylor / DJ Infectious Unease became one of the founding event organisers behind the Melbourne underground event projects Subterranean Zone, After Hours, and Interzona. These events formed an important extension of his long-running work with Infectious Unease Radio, bringing dark alternative, industrial, electronic, drum & bass, jungle, darkstep, dub, techno, post-punk, EBM, witch house, power electronics, and experimental underground music into live venue spaces across Melbourne.
Across the years before COVID disrupted the live music and club scene, these events operated through venues including Bodega Bar, The Sub Club, Grumpys, Randy Dragon, Bar 303, and Beach on Brunswick, building a platform for DJs, live electronic acts, visual artists, underground performers, and independent music communities. Through Subterranean Zone, After Hours, and Interzona, Gordon helped create spaces where darker, heavier, stranger, and more experimental sounds could exist outside mainstream club culture.
The events continued the same spirit that has always driven Infectious Unease Radio: supporting underground music without fear of genre boundaries, giving space to artists working in the shadows, and connecting Melbourne’s alternative electronic, industrial, gothic, bass, jungle, and experimental scenes through sound, atmosphere, and community.
