EP 1 REMIXED lands firmly in the second category — a deep, groove-conscious transformation of the Gyratory Allstars’ acclaimed self-titled debut EP, reimagined not as an afterthought, but as a dancefloor-forward extension of the band’s musical DNA.

This is not a genre exercise. This is funk, soul, acid jazz, broken beat, disco house and hip-hop culture folding inward on itself — respectfully, intelligently, and with serious intent.

Context & Evolution

Originally released in October 2024, the Gyratory Allstars’ debut EP introduced the world to Brighton’s formidable 11-piece live collective, fronted by the warm, expressive vocals of Jerry Clavier (Tru Thoughts, J-Felix, Laroye). That release earned international praise and rotational airplay across tastemaker platforms including:

The Remix Philosophy

Rather than outsourcing the remix work wholesale, the band keeps the circle tight. Producers DJ WheelUP and Matica (both associated with Tru Thoughts) bring broken beat and soulful house credibility, while internal reworks arrive under the banner Gyratory Soundsystem, alongside a standout contribution from Jez Lloyd under his Ink Project alias (Blind Colour / SonyBMG).

The result is a remix EP that respects the songs, but isn’t afraid to push them into new environments — clubs, late-night rooms, jazz-dance floors, headphone spaces.

1. Sun Still Shines (Gyratory Soundsystem Remix)

A deep, low-slung disco-soul glide. The rhythm section breathes wider here, letting warmth and groove take precedence over urgency. This version feels patient, almost meditative — proof that dance music doesn’t need to shout to move bodies.

2. Keep Our Love Alive (Gyratory Soundsystem Remix)

A subtle but powerful re-engineering. The arrangement leans into late-night disco house textures, giving the vocal space to hover rather than dominate. Elegant, restrained, and quietly emotional.

3. Judge A Book (Matica Remix)

Broken beat excellence. Matica injects Latin-inflected rhythmic complexity without overcrowding the groove. Syncopation dances around the original soul framework, landing squarely in modern jazz-dance territory.

4. Writings On The Wall (WheelUP Remix)

This is the club-ready pivot point. WheelUP delivers a floor-focused broken beat remix that still keeps its jazz integrity intact. Crisp percussion, rolling low-end, and a sense of forward momentum that DJs will appreciate instantly.

5. Keep Our Love Alive (Ink Project Remix)

Perhaps the most striking reinterpretation. Jez Lloyd’s breakbeat-driven approach pushes the track into peak-time energy, without sacrificing musicality. This one hits hardest emotionally and rhythmically — a proper finale.

Overall Impression

EP 1 REMIXED isn’t about nostalgia or recycling momentum. It’s about translation — taking live funk and soul compositions and allowing them to speak fluently in club language, without losing their heart.
