In early Japanese legend, Mizuchi is a serpentine water spirit said to dwell in the depths of rivers, luring travellers beneath silent currents. Neither fully dragon nor human, it embodies the untamed forces of nature — shifting form, commanding flood and poison alike. Though ancient chronicles speak of its defeat, the myth endures in the restless movement of water itself.
Mizuchi is not presented here as a vanquished monster, but as a lingering presence — a guardian, a threat, and a memory carried downstream through time.

The Return of Legends
With Legends Vol. 2 – Mizuchi, Yamatai Records return to one of their most important conceptual series — not as a nostalgic revival, but as a living continuation of their ethos: storytelling through sound.
Originally launched in 2014, the Legends series draws inspiration from Japanese folklore and culture, pairing narrative-driven artwork with forward-thinking drum and bass. This second volume, developed over more than a year, expands both the scale and the ambition of the project.
